There are many countries spread out on this globe and if the entire human race start searching for their roots they may end up pointing to one civilization on this plane. Some say it all started in Mesopotamia while some feel it is Indus Valley whatever or wherever we are originated from interestingly we are from the same source. Hence we can say “Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam” His entire creation is one family, this is a verse from Hitopadesha. The knowledge of this made Swamy Vivekananda addressed the gathering in Chicago as “Brothers and Sisters of America” If we go deeper into analyzing our roots we end up being related to each other. It is nothing so great in just calling ourselves as related to one another until we stop hating each other.
Mankind has become so inhuman that they are not concern with relationship in their own family. It is not something that has cropped up all of a sudden. This hatred in relationship was there since the time of Mahabharata. Prince Duryodhana instantly made Karna the king of Anga so that he can be eligible to compete with Arjuna at the archery test. But when he was asked to part with five small villages as their share to Pandavas, he hesitated. Duryodhana hated Pandavas and that was the reason he did not give them their share. Surprisingly may be if Karna had asked him he might have given the entire kingdom. For having a thought of brotherhood it does not matter if we are blood related or connected genetically. What matters most is our love for others.
Hatred separates people. In modern era also countries fight with each other unnecessarily without understanding that we are all related and our relationship is from love and affection. We share the sun, moon, stars and the whole atmosphere. Yet we have countries restricting the visitors in the name if VISA and temples restricting devotees in the name of RELIGION. The protocol in the administration may need people from other countries to get visa to enter the country but that should not be to divide people. And there is no sense in restricting those who are interested to have the glimpse of the deity in a temple just because he is from other religion. If this practice continues is there any meaning in saying “Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam”(One World One Family) ?????? Agree or not if we go deep to the core we are related to each other and also to the entire universe by consciousness. Consciousness is one which has no plural there is just one and only Consciousness. If we are aware of this fact we can shout loudly from our roof top that we belong to, “Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam.”
“Ayam nijah paro veti gananaa laghuchetasaam Udaaracharitaam tu vasudhaiva kutumbakam” The thought that one person is related to me and another is not is that of the narrow-minded. For the broadminded, however, the whole world is one family. (Hitopadesha: 1.3.71)
