Robin Hood in the medieval period folk lore robbed the rich and gave to the poor and made a good gesture. Remembering that folklore character we out of desperation dream that God is like this yeoman. But He is not such a character at all. According to belief, God is Karma Phala Daata.

Ramana Maharshi starts the famous Upadesha Saram with the following line:

Karthuragnayaa Prapyathe Phalam
Actions yield fruits, for so the Creator ordains it.

God is the one who assess the nature of our deeds, learns the motive behind it, and accordingly expends the fruits for those. Many of us pursue the approved rituals; don the role of a right husband or wife, etc, which our ancients prescribed. We are told that there is a law of Karma that is operating in thisUniverse which provides good rewards for good thought, word and deed and bad rewards for bad thought, word and deed. In Bhagavad-Gita, Lord Krishna states that one has only the right to do duty and should not have the right to desire for the fruits of the same.

Does this mean that there is no use in desiring for the benefit of our actions?????

There is a lot of perpetual meaning in this. In fact, Lord Krishna is telling us to use the rewards as mirrors of our deeds. Let the rewards tell us what we have actually desired – this is the authority of the Lord Krishna.

If we have not got the desire result for a deed done then we have to understand that our desire, the process and the actual implementation has to be rechecked again. There must be something wrong in our expectations, and that is why it has not fetched us the desire rewards.

Once Sage Narada visits Lord Sriman Narayana in Ksheera Sagara. In middle of their conversation Lord Narayana tells Sage Narada that He has to attend to a distress call from His devotee. He asks Sage Narada to stay back till He returns. After a few minutes Lord Narayana returns back. Sage Narada wanted to know out of curiosity who that devotee was and what was his plea.

Lord Narayana said the devotee was a snake which had just come out of hibernation and was looking for something to eat and at the same time wishing for the Lord to help it. So it was the duty of the Lord to offer a frog for it to satisfy its hunger. Listening to this Sage Narada wonders if Lord had sacrificed the life of a frog to please His devotee. So Sage Narada asks Lord about it.

Lord Sriman Narayana tells Sage Narada, “O Narada the frog is also my devotee and since long it was yearning for salvation, it always remembered me and would ask for Mukti. And also Narada the snake deserved the frog for its lunch it had fed a hungry soul in its past birth.”

God is the Ace Accountant of this Universe……. Isn’t it?????
