An old woman who had spent 60 years of her life span gracefully walked along side her granddaughter of 13 to the nearby park. This was routine every evening for them after the granny shifted to U.S to live with her son. As they were on the way to the park they had to pass by a temple. It was the same time when devotees inside the temple would sing Bhajans and do Aarti to the deity.

“Dadi Maa, is God deaf why do people have to shout at the peak of their voice?” asked the young lass.

“Munni, the Bhajans even though is about the deity it is not for the deity it is for the devotee himself. If you listen to the lyrics of the Bhjanas you can know that they contain words glorifying the Lord referring to the great deeds and kindness of the Lord. And would it not be stupid if they are telling about His greatness to Him.” replied the old man.

“Dadi Maa, don’t these people have a puja room in their house, why do they have to come here?” asked the little girl.

“Yes, they do have a place to worship in their houses as we have. But some visit temples to as they feel His presence there. It is so because we humans need to keep our faith on something so that we can act upon it as our base and flourish from there. We have concluded in our mind that if faith is sincere it never fails us.” said the old woman.

“Dadi Maa, so if one has sincere faith in God, will God grant all that one wishes for?” asked the young girl innocently.

“He may or may not. See Munni, things do not happen as you have wanted it. Has it always turned out to be as you wished for in your school? No, I suppose. These people in the temple are asking for something in their prayers. Some of the prayers may be answered and some might not!”

“Why then do they pray if they know that their prayers may or may not be answered?” the young lass asked curiously.

“Exactly it is here the faith does play a major role. Faith is when you do not have an iota of doubt. It is known that in our lives there are many questions which do not have answers. It is important to move on with those unanswered questions and for it to happen we need strength. Faith provides us that strength and also teaches us to accept the unexpected and move on.” explained the granny.

“Ok Dadi Maa, do you like God even if you do not get what you have asked from Him? What has He given you?” asked the little girl.

“Why your Mummy does not give all that you ask for and that does mean you do not love her? As far as I am concerned God is in me, guiding and supporting me always. It is the best grace He has bestowed on me.”

“But Dadi Maa, I have not seen you going to temple or even praying to Him.”

“You are right I do not need to go in search of Him I can get His grace by living and nurturing life to the best of my ability. I believe in loving all His creation and spreading love. He is comfortable with the way I am leading the life. That’s it.”

As they both walked back home, Lord inside her as “Antaryami” was smiling at the conversation that He had just heard…….!
