305. Perception Differs!!!!!!

http://www.speakingtree.in/public/spiritual-blogs/seekers/self-improvement/perception-differs

Every individual has his own way of perceiving things that comes across him. The events that happen before us might be one but the way we perceive them is different. This difference in the perception is because we are all not thinking in the same wavelength. We are unable to go into the mind of the person to know at what wavelength he is gauging things. How much ever we try we are unable to assume completely or exactly what the other person’s perceptions are. Even the Siamese twins who are born at the same time and place are different when it comes to perceiving things. When our families, cultural and ethnical background, our personal experiences are all different then the way we perceive things will also be different. What is suitable for me might not suit others and what I relish and crave for, might not be the other person’s interest. This difference in the perception can sometime be the the cause for conflict also.

Why is it that that entire human race is unable to perceive uniformly????

There may be many reasons but most important of them could be:

1. Context: The circumstantial background and also the mental condition at the time the person perceives. It is highly impossible for every individual to have common conducive situation and same mental status.

2. Limited Viewing: There are chances that we are unable to comprehend the situation completely. The inability to understand could be due to our limited knowledge also. No one is perfect and the level of perception can also depend on the Intelligent Quotient.

3. Jumping to Conclusion: Haste makes waste they say. Lack of patience may drive us to perceive without getting the complete picture of the situation.

4. Experience: experience is a pot which can be filled to different levels. Experience makes man perfect if not perfect it makes him better than what he was before and enhanced that the one who has least experience. An experienced person always has a better perception of a situation.

Differences in perception are very common. Particularly when there is a conflict, the persons involved may feel intensely that the other person has to accept his version, but it cannot be so because they would not have perceived at the same wavelength. Hence amazingly both question each other as to why the other cannot look at it as he has???

It only needs the person to walk away from the wavelength he is viewing either it is higher or lower it does not matter and try to match the other persons bandwidth then the problem is solved. The secret is that it is easier for the person viewing from greater wavelength to come down to the bandwidth of the other. Hence it is always better to listen and try to understand the other person's point of view with respect towards him and accept the fact that the other person see things differently than we do. There is no need to agree with the other person’s perception but just to understand that his perception is different will do a lot.

Solution is easily achieved from understanding, than argument or agreement.

  1. perceptions are very much individualistic. It goes back to Vedantha. We have come here to perform some actions. For that one needs a certain mind set.We are born to parents, and we get some nature and temperament from them.values, culture beliefs etc. Then the environment plays a big role.Last but not the least how much free will one exercises to reach the path one chooses These are some of the influences one has.Jut to see something and understand also all these things are at the background.

    1. True Kalavathi ji .......Mind works with the Lubrication of Perception. Mind reaches out to the object with our sense organs and moulds itself into the shape of the object. The object thought glows in the Light of Consciousness and the knowledge of that object is experienced…. This is perception according to Vedanta.
