304. Who is a Spiritual GURU??????

http://www.speakingtree.in/public/spiritual-blogs/seekers/science-of-spirituality/heartfelt-words-from-an-authentic-spiritual-guru

There was a peaceful town where majority of the inhabitant depended on agriculture produce and industries that supported it. The people who lived in that town had accepted a young man to be their spiritual Guru. That young man stayed with his wife and a child in a small hut which was adjacent to the field where he cultivated the seasonal cereals. He would share whatever he knew about Spiritualism to whosoever went with a question.

He lived a simple life and his simple lifestyle even though being the center of attraction among the people around amazed a journalist from the city. He wished to have an interview. So he approached the Spiritual Guru and here is how the interview went:

Journalist: You are very famous among the people here and you help them understand Spirituality and yet you work in your field for a living. I have not come across any Spiritual Guru who is so. Any specific reasons?

Spiritual Guru: If you are so curiosity I will tell you. I am a person who dwells in my Consciousness. I do not place comforts in the higher priority simply because comforts are in the realm of mind and body. I request you consider this as discussion and not as an interview with you to publish in your daily.

Journalist: Now you are puzzling me a lot more. In my career I have found people using us, the media to reach out to people. You deny publicity??

Spiritual Guru: I also would love to reach out to people, I am doing it right here in this town.

Journalist: I have heard that you do not expect any fund or donation. If you had accepted what they offered you need not work in your field and you would have had ample time to give discourse, isn’t it so??

Spiritual Guru: I do not need it as I have already told you I live in conscious realm not in body and mind realm.

Journalist: What do you mean?

Spiritual Guru: My sustenance and my family needs are taken care from what grows in my field. If I run behind comforts then I will be living in my body and mind realm. I do not think they are the priority to me or my family.

Journalist: But I found that people in your town are ready to offer to you in return to the spiritual guidance they get from you.

Spiritual Guru: I know they are compassionate towards me and my family but what I have given them as Spiritual guidance does not justify any monetary transaction.

Journalist: Why so? You have provided Spiritual Knowledge for which you are eligible to get funds or donations.

Spiritual Guru: My dear friend, from whatever I have tell regarding Spiritual Science it does not relieve the seeker from bondage. All I can do is make the seeker understand that he is in bondage and to come out of it is his effort alone. I do not have any role to play there. Then how can I boast and accept donations assuming the seeker has been liberated by heeding to my Spiritual guidance?

Journalist: So according to you all Guru’s I mean all teacher who teach have to follow the same?

Spiritual Guru: No, teachers will teach different subjects which a student does not know. It includes knowledge of world outside and all of those are new to the student; Spirituality is not so everyone born here has the knowledge in them dormant in their sub-conscious mind. I only tell them to bring them to their conscious mind. Should I accept donation to tell them what they already know?

Journalist: If we all know about Spirituality then why are we so?

Spiritual Guru: That is what everyone asks me the answer is in every one of you. All you need to do is a bit of contemplation. Many sages have asked you to question “Who am I?” if the answer to that question is got by none other than the questioner then why should I accept the donations?

Journalist: You do not want publicity or donations yet you are ready to part the Spiritual Knowledge. This is very unique and astonishing.

Spiritual Guru: No, my friend Kabir as a weaver depended on that profession not on donations to sustain himself yet he shared the Spiritual Knowledge. Ramakrishna Paramahamsa, Ramana Maharshi, Shirdi Sai Baba and many more Spiritual Gurus of this land never expected monetary favors to impart their Spiritual Knowledge.

Journalist: Those were bygone ages now everything has a price tag.

Spiritual Guru: A Spiritual Guru does not come with a price list only a businessman who thinks of his body and mind alone has one. Spiritual Knowledge could be purchase but not liberation. Without an aim to get liberated Spiritual Knowledge has no value.

The journalist got the answer to why this person was so very simple and had a bear hug with him before leaving with a feel of meeting an authentic Spiritual Guru in flesh and blood…….

  1. I do appreciate the Spiritual Guru's point of view . Since yesterday I started attending Tiruppawai Discourse in the near by temple ..... my thought strayed in the background of the subject blog ...what if that at the end of a month long discourse the Speaker is not paid any amount as honourarium ?...will he be still interested in continuing next time ?....how to bear to & fro commuting expenses?....The Speaker is a Professor in Sanskrit Maha Vidyalaya and perhaps this discourse helps him in supplementing his regular income so that he can meet his extra needs from this " Seasonal Earnings '!!..My Thoughts keep running around the Present Blog as a backdrop and I'm still in a State of Obfuscation !!...

Thanks for Sharing a well written piece !!..

    1. Jagadish Sir nice to know that discourse on Tiruppavai has started for Margazhi ...... and i know that there are more people like Jagadish Sir who do not go away from the discourse without remunerating the speaker ......or shall i say Sri Hari does provide instructions for the same......... The speaker who has knowledge to talk on Tiruppavai also will have the grace of Sri Hari and will never look for material comforts through season earnings........ As you have mentioned that the speaker is a professor i wish he will and should look of earnings by sharing knowledge in the college but will not be interested in collection from the discourse......if he does then he is a speaker and not a spiritual guru..................am i right Jagadish Sir :):):):):):):):):):):):):):):)
