172. Karma, Dharma, And Being Aware Of The INNER SELF!!!!!!!!!!

The moment an individual has the awareness of knowing his true nature that itself indicates that the Inner Self is beyond the Senses, Mind and Intellect. That Inner Self is the Consciousness, the power that puts this human form to do Nishkama Karma (Desireless Action) to work out the Karma Phala (Resulatant Fruits) and obtain purity by clean-up the impurities of the mind, so that the Absolute is reachable.

Nishkama Karma is the desireless action without any emotional attachments to the fruits of the action but it should not be considered as Alakshya Karma (Goalless Action). The concept of Karma helps us to get out of the impurities of the mind that has crammed the Self. This process is similar to extracting the pure gold from the gold ore. There is the need to mine it and extract and then using furnace it is melted and then the pure gold is obtained. The process involved in purifying the mind is through Nishkama Karma (Desireless Action).

The Inner Self is like the Sun which bestows the light to the moon, which is Mind but the clouds are like the impurities that clog the moon. The breeze of air can take away the cloud so that the moon is clearly visible. That breeze of air is the Niskamya Karma (desireless action) that has to be undertaken. While preaching Bhagavad-Gita to Arjuna, Lord Krishna advices him to fight the battle of Dharma and remain emotional unattached to the result. The outcome of the war should not affect his venture. The duty of a person as a Karma yogi is to do the action as per Dharma, as if it is worship, without expecting anything in return for the actions performed. This is Nishkama Karma Yoga as the Yoga of desireless actions and it is one of the ideal paths to realize the Self.

Lord Krishna also cautions not to be actionless or lazy. He further advices that the state of non action (Karma Sanyasa) is better than inaction (Nishkama Karma) which is better than action (Karma). Action is egoist action, Inaction is egoless action, and Non-action is action happening without a doer and without a sense of deliberate intentional doing. An instance of Non-action Action is our heart beat; it is the action that is taking place without any deliberate doing from our side. Right?

The gist of this materialistic life revolves around the word Karma. It is like having a virtual Karma account in the bank of Karma called Sanchita (Aggregate fruits of past life deeds). If one understands the nature of Action (Karma), Inaction (Nishkama Karma), and Non-action (Karma Sanyasa) it will be easy to nullify the account and get liberated. It is believed that an individual is born with certain Samskaras (impressions), his past nudges him to do certain Karma (actions), and the Karma Phala for those Karma are then deposited in his virtual Karma account in the virtual Karma bank called Sanchita. By following the path of Karma yoga one has the knack of not adding to the deposit and become liberated. All one has to do to get liberated is to live in this universe and work for the wellness of this world and at the same time not get attached to the vastness of materialistic pleasures. What Say??????
