180. Knowledge Has To Be Shared Not Sold…………!

Everything comes with a price tag in this materialistic world, which includes birth and death also. Here everything is measured in terms of its worth, the notion is that the higher the price the greater the worth. Anything that is shared for free of cost is looked as if it has no value. Agreed that there is a phrase “There is no such thing as free lunch” but then it encourages an individual to earn his food. Hence an individual has various means to earn for his living. He takes up some business or works under some organization to earn and feed his family.

Can knowledge which is not inherited be used to make money? Knowledge has to be shared and it should not be sold for money. This was the sense of the ancients who would preach the wisdom without expecting any thing from their disciples. There were Gurukuls wherein the pupil would gain knowledge and once he is through he would offer the Guru some thing out of gratitude. There was no compulsion from the Guru, the prince and the son of an ordinary farmer would give Guru Dakshina according to their status and amazingly both were regarded as equal by the Guru. This was the reason why the Vedas and Upanishad were not freezed in books but were passed on verbally and the flow continued. If this could work ages ago why not now??

It is only the greed to make money out of anything and everything which has made mankind to sell even knowledge. What happens if knowledge is shared?? If knowledge is shared it would benefit the person individually and collectively it would benefit the society.

Let us suppose a farmer has no clue about what he can grow in his land, and get good yield. If the scientist from the agricultural department helps him by giving him advice as to what he has to grow, how much quantity of water he need to supply and what are precautions that he has to take for a better yield, the farmer would have a better yield and good produce can reach the society. If knowledge is sold by putting a price tag then only those who can afford will make use. And unfortunately those who have acquired knowledge by paying for it will have the tendency of making money by selling it.

Is it right to sell knowledge for the affordable only?? They say “If you teach a hungry man to fish, you feed him for life” what does this mean?? It means with the knowledge of fishing the person can find a living. Knowledge if shared will benefit the whole society and at the same time it will multiply. The concept of sharing the knowledge is acknowledged by only those who understand that this entire universe is “Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam.”

Knowledge sharing is not just an exchange of information. Sharing knowledge transpires when people are truly interested in helping one another develop new capacities for wellness of the society; it is about creating learning processes. There is no scarcity of resources from where knowledge can be acquired on this planet. On the whole a person who claims to be knowledgeable would know only a small percentage of knowledge that is available. The entire life is need to learn and the way of learning is interacting with people and using knowledge to impart knowledge to others and how they can use this knowledge for their benefit and for the benefit of others also.

By sharing knowledge and experiences one always gets insight into different mindsets and thought processes and surely enriches his own knowledge sphere. One should never restrict from guiding others to grow and shape up the world and also self. Am i right in thinking so?????? please advice....................
