89. In Desperate Search of Divinity...........

Scriptures are figurative in nature and mostly emphasises on spiritual facts and sometimes teaches right technique for spiritual advancement. They were not written but recalled every time by a Guru and the disciple would listen hence they were “Smrithi”. As such, scriptures are all about psycho-physical incident that happened in the inner condition of the mind and body between Guru and Shishya. They are not mere interpretation of some distant old stories of Divine or so. They are certainly not wished to entertain us with stories but to help us realizes with revelation as to our eternal and original nature and make us understand our identity with Divinity as we have all forgotten about it altogether.

Rishis who have realized Absolute have authored them with the future seeker in mind. However, for a lay man scriptures are moral stories or stories portraying the play of Absolute but for a spiritually inclined it is a guiding light in the path and for the realized it is their awareness path that has taken them from manhood to Divine hood. A seeker has to read scriptures and contemplate on it and use the message revealed out of it in his life to excel. In fact a seeker looks not for momentary happiness but everlasting eternal Bliss. He understands that he cannot die but exists ever in conscious of Bliss. In short he is nothing short of Absolute. This is the aspect which made Sri Sri Sankara coin the word “SAT CHIT ANANDA” to explain what Absolute is. It is for this Bliss one strives hard for many many uncountable life spans.

Forgetful of what is needed one succeeds in getting name, fame, power and material. In pursuit of Bliss he fails to realize the goal and he becomes a slave to his sense organs and materialism which gets him only devil hood depriving of delivering everlasting Bliss; making him dependent on something else to provide happiness ultimately getting away from Absolute. It is this subject matter, what the scriptures deal with, to give lasting solution to find Absolute inside him.

There was once a time when every single creation of Absolute was Divine, but as time passed they started abusing their divinity. Upset which the development Lord Brahma, the creator, decided to take it away from them and hide it where it could never be found. Hence the Divine hood was lost and man hood got stuck to us. Where to hide Divinity was the question. So Brahma called a council to help him decide.

“Let's bury it deep in the earth,” said the some.

But Brahma felt, “No that is not the place to hide because humans will dig into the earth and find it.”

Then the few others said, “Let's sink it in the deepest ocean.”

But Brahma said, “No, not there, for they will learn to dive into the ocean and will find it.”

“Let's take it to the top of the highest mountain and hide it there.”

But once again Brahma replied, “No that will not do either, because they will eventually climb every mountain and once again take up their Divinity.”

Then the council gave up and said, “We do not know where to hide it, because it seems that there is no place on earth or in the sea that human beings will not eventually reach.”

Brahma thought for a long time and then said, “There is a place where Divinity could be hid. We will hide their Divinity deep in the centre of their own being, for humans will never think to look for it there.”

The council agreed that deep inside the core of every humans was the perfect hiding place, and the deed was done. And since then humans have been going up and down the earth, digging, diving, climbing, and exploring and searching for Divinity that is already within them.
